Christopher’s Story
The Christopher Donalty CURE Benefit honors the memory of Christopher Donalty who died on February 21, 2002 of Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP).
Christopher, the son of Barry and Jeanne Donalty, was born and raised in Utica, New York, graduated tenth in his class from Proctor High School in 1998, and was a star baseball player for both the Proctor Raiders and Utica Post’s American Legion team.
Christopher was not only a star on the baseball field, but a star in many people’s lives. He was big in stature and personality. He made people laugh, and everyone loved being around him.
Christopher was 21 years old and a candidate for a degree in business administration from Stetson University when he died from Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP).
Today, the Donalty family tries to keep Christopher’s spirit alive by helping support other people of all ages with epilepsy.
For the sixth time, Christopher’s family and friends are joining together to pay tribute to him by raising funds for Citizens United for Research in Epielpsy (CURE) to support critically needed epilepsy research. This research offers hope to those who are affected with this debilitating disease.
The 2013 Christopher Donalty CURE Benefit will be held on Saturday, September 7th at Hart’s Hill Inn, 135 Clinton Street, Whitesboro, NY. The cocktail reception will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. All seating is by reservation only.
Over 700 people have attended each of our previous events. To date, the Mohawk Valley community has raised an amazing $1.16 million, which has funded 11 cutting-edge research grants.
It is our hope that you will join us in celebrating Christopher Donalty’s life at this year’s event, and help us increase awareess of this devatating disease and raise the needed dollars to eradicate epilepsy and save lives.
